With the bitter cold expected to continue for a while it is important that you protect your real estate investment from the extreme cold temperature. Pipes that are not protected can easily burst causing significant damage and a lot of money to repair.
Pipes that are near exterior walls are susceptible to freezing, insulate the areas where these pipes are located or use pipe wrapping embedded with electrical coils that provide an outside source of heat.
Open the door to cabinets under your kitchen and bathroom sinks so heat from the room will keep the pipes warm. Keep a stream of water trickling out of faucets or spouts that are attached to vulnerable pipes as running water does not freeze very readily.
