According to the National Fire Protection Association Thanksgiving is the #1 day for cooking fires. With all the cooking that happens on this day and the many homes that host large family gatherings, it’s important to help keep your loved ones safe. Here are some tips to ensure a safe Thanksgiving.
If you don’t already have a smoke alarm near the kitchen, install one now. If you do have one it’s a good idea to check the batteries to make sure they are functioning correctly.
Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Open windows regularly to make sure carbon monoxide does not build up from the use of natural gas or propane stoves. Never leave candles unattended while lit.
